Essay

The thesis is dedicated to the complex historic - legal analysis of the legal process of international recognition of inclusion of the Western Ukrainian lands to the Ukrainian SSR and the establishment of the post-war line of the Polish-Soviet border. The author completed the generalized research of the world practice of the forms and methods of changes of existing intergovernmental borders in the period between two world wars. A special attention is paid to the following of the demands and standards of international law by the Soviet side during signing of a Non-aggression Pact and the secrete protocol with Germany in August 23, 1939; the realization of so-called Liberation campaign in September 17, 1939; the organization and holding of the National Assembly of the Western Ukraine; taking a decision by the Supreme Soviet of the USSR and the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR to include the Western Ukrainian lands in the USSR and Ukrainian SSR; in the actions of the Soviet diplomacy during World War II; in the course of holding de-facto policy on the final period of the military actions carried out by the military and civil authorities of the USSR; as well as other discordant actions and treaties. The standpoint of the United Nations governments concerning the Western Ukrainian question is enlightened as well as the accordance of this standpoint with the standards of the existing international law during the World War II.
