The thesis presents the first complex characteristic feature analysis of sociocultural institution of hospitality becoming and development in the context of Ukrainian tourism, which is carried out on the material of Mykolayiv region. In the process of investigation the notion "sociocultural institution of hospitality" has been determined; the difference of the latter from hospitality as social phenomenon and hospitality - tourism correlations are revealed as relatively new type of historical practice. The notions "sphere of hospitality" and "culture of hospitality" have been also defined. Following the developed concept apparatus, the prehistory of sphere of hospitality forming in pre-Soviet period in Mykolayiv region was considered by the author of the thesis; the peculiarity of its revival during the period between the wars is revealed; the process of the hospitality institution becoming during a post-war period, the period of the so-called "Khrushchev's thaw", the period of command-administrative system of the Soviet Union strengthening is researched; the features of sociocultural institution of hospitality development during each of these periods are discovered. On the basis of this research the periodization of the hospitality institution becoming process in the context of historical practice of tourism in Mykolayiv region is suggested. The research is conducted on the basis of wide source study basis, which consists of the archived documents of the State Archives of Mykolayiv region, and also published documents: the periodical press and address-calendars. The overwhelming majority of the archive materials are introduced into the scientific use for first time by the author of the thesis.
