Essay

In this dissertation the formation of new Ukrainian literature is investigated in connection with ethnopsychological and biographic aspects. The leading cultural-aesthetical tendencies of the end of the XVIII-th first decades of XIX-th centuries are illuminated and the specific character of the mental sphere, is determined in which the author and also the reader-user of strictly Ukrainian cultural product was formed. Main attention is concentrated on the personalities of I. Kotlyarevsky, P. Gulak-Artemovsky, G. Kvitka, whose works caused the greatest resonance among the contemporary readers. The special features of the national self-knowledge of Ukrainian intelligent (author and reader) are revealed, and also the uniqueness of the cultural space is studied.
