Essay

The artistic histiriosophy research in Ulas Samchuk's heritage from the position of world outlook traditinalism and esthetics conservatism is proposed in the thesis for the first time in the Ukrainian literary criticism. In the thesis artistic historiosophy is regarded as specific literary phenomenon predetermined by the social historical and individual author's type of conditions. In connection with it modern literary critics' points of view on the phenomenon studied are presented, artistic historiosophy specifics, its difference from philosophy of history and metahistory, historiosophy dependence on ideological and political views of a creative personality are analyzed. Deep connections of U.Samchuk's artistic historiosophy with D.Dontsov's nationalistic ideology and the writers united by "Vistnyk" journal ("Literary-Scientific Vestnik" in 1922-1932) are studied. For the first time prose writer's esthetic and cultural convictions are systematized and interpreted, the essence of his philosophy of culture and art is found outU.Samchuk's esthetic theory was directed on "great literature" - the idea of comprehension of which depends on the writer's literary experience, on the epoch which formed this understanding as well as on the tradition which it grem from. "Great literature" was equal to historical literary canon of artistic literature that is why classism for U.Samchuk was a noble art feature which taught good taste in thepoch of total a vanguard destruction. In the thesis it is reasonably proved that U.Samchuk's artistic historiosophy has national protective nature for through realizing historical and geoetnic taking root it is directed on preserving Ukrainian identity and keeps in itself colossal potential for the Ukrainian independent state construction.
