Essay

The object is the phenomenon of suicide. The aim is to analyse the specificity of historical-philosophical suicidal views and theories having place in Western European Philosophy. The methods are dialectic, principles of the analysis and synthesis, concreteness of true, ascension from abstract to concrete, intercoupling, unity of historical and logical, comparative, hermeneutic, system, existential, psychological, phenomenological, psychoanalytical, existential-psychoanalytical. The aim of the research is to ground the rightfulness of formation of existential and psychoanalytical concept of suicide according to which the consciousness of a person who is going to commit a suicide is traumatic due to conflict situation which he has gone through in the period of some crisis. The main characteristics of suicidal consciousness are its darkening and narrowing. It is stated that if a person excludes the possibility of suicide from the sphere of his own possibilities the perspective of being-against-death connected with the perspective of overcoming death as a possibility is opened before him. Application spheres are suicidology and training courses.
