Skrynnyk M. Existential senses of national identity in Ukrainian romanticism.

Author's conception of Ukrainian romanticism as a system of ideas that laid worldview foundations of the Ukrainian national identity has been proposed in the dissertation. The development of Ukrainian romanticism from its ideological sources till the formation of historiosophical conception was tracked. In its evolution this conception has transformed into philosophy and ideology of Ukrainian conservatism. The fact that the main result of this process was construction of substantial spiritual structures of national self-sufficiency on the level of national narrative practices is proved. Existential senses of national identity are identified on the basis of romantics' interpretation of the structure of the Ukrainian world and archetypical matrix "union-hostility".
