Essay

Social and political moods and moral background of population of Ukraine during World War II are analyzed on wide circle of sources and literature. The mechanism of influence from the part of political institutions and processes on shaping of social and political moods of Ukraine's population is considerer. Stalinist ethnic policies and propaganda of war period as well as participation of bureaucrats (representing Communist and Soviet hierarchy) and creative elites are analyzed in the process of shaping the ideological pattern of Ukrainian Soviet patriotism. Sources and reasons of resistance in the framework of totalitarian regime are researched. Theoretical and methodological princeples and peculiarities of public opinion as well as social and polical moods under totalitarianism and directions of further research are considered.
