Essay

In the thesis the analysis of gradation in Ukrainian language as a functional-semantic category has been made for the first time. The means of gradation expression of different levels have been investigated and the paradigmatic and syntagmatic relations whthin the category is described. The core and periphery of functional-semantic field of gradation are differentiated. The semantic types of gradational expressions have been marked out. The paradigmatic and syntagmatic vector of gradation in the complicated system of gradational relations, which reflects the subjective-objective connections, has been investigated.
