Essay

The object is the process of attainment of price stability as an instrument of macroeconomic regulation in mature and emerging economies; the research objective is devel-opment of theoretical and methodological fundamentals for securing price stability in transition economies, setting up on this basis of institutional, legal and economic mecha-nisms for its sustaining through the IT introduction, devel-oping of methodological and practical recommendations on preparation and transition to the IT regime in Ukraine; methods - analysis and synthesis, scientific abstraction, structure functional analysis, system functional, statistical comparison, expert estimations, logical generalization and extrapolation, graphic and tabular, econometric. Theoreti-cal and practical results: theoretical and methodological approach was developed to research of mechanism of se-curing price stability in a transition economy; methodo-logical grounds were suggested for strategies of transition to the IT in Ukraine. Stage of introduction: the practical value of scientific, theoretical and methodical develop-ments of the research has been proven by their application in the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine (in course of prepa-ration of State Programs of economic and social develop-ment of Ukraine), Ministry of Finance of Ukraine (macro-economic forecast for 2000 - 2008 budgets), National Bank of Ukraine (draft medium term action plan on secur-ing price stability and Monetary Policy Fundamentals of the National Bank of Ukraine in 2004-2008), State Com-mittee of Statistics of Ukraine (in course of development of methodology for calculation of basic consumer price in-dex). Area, scope of application: the recommendations de-veloped in the course of research are intended for applica-tion in activities of the National Bank of Ukraine and in-troduction in the area of monetary policy.
