In dissertation for the fist time on Ukrainian study of literature the comparative research of the development of Ukrainian and Polish prose betweenwar period of twenty years in the aspect of functioning of catastrophism in suggested. Philosophical basis of forming of catastrophism ideology have been generalized and systematized. Main philosophical and aesthetic models of catastrophism (historical, anthropological, technocratic) and their varieties have been suggested and grounded. There have been analyzed the discourse of catastrophism and tendencies of its artistic realization. Dominant and representative models of catastrophism semantic and structural transformations and modifications in Ukrainian and Polish prose have been studied in the work. In catastrophical foreshortened scientific works of V. Vinichenko, M. Khvylovy, V. Pidmogylny, M. Yogansen, O. Turyansky, M. Ivchenko, I. Vilde, K. Grynevycheva, N. Koroleva, S.-I. Vitkevych, Y. Parandovsky, Z. Nalkovska, Y. Vittlin, V. Gombrovych, M. Domrovska, P. Goyavichynska are researched. Catastrophical paradigm is studied in correlation with genre peculiarities of prose of considering period and author aesthetic intentions.
