Essay

Analysis of the cooperative is executed on the base of institutional economics. Complete correspondence of its characteristics to the main criteria of economic organization is proved. The peculiarities of cooperative organizations are accented. The main ones are generalized in the author's definition. The theory of cooperative non-profitability has been further developed. Namely, the terms "non-profit nature" and "non-profit status" are marked off and defined. The advisability of the term "agrarian cooperation" introduction into scientific use is grounded as it generalizes agricultural, consumer and credit cooperatives functioning in the countryside. The main problems of modern Ukrainian cooperative movement are defined. The complete range of measures increasing the cooperatives organization and functioning effectiveness is proposed. The importance of cooperation between consumer cooperatives, agricultural cooperatives and credit cooperatives during the process of Ukrainian agrarian sector restructuring is grounded.
