This dissertation is a clinical investigation into the methods of treatment of Diffuse Peritonitis. It is dedicated to the development of perspective approaches to surgical treatment of Diffuse Peritonitis and the problems associated with the condition. This research has examined the role of the reactivity state of the body in generalization of infection through the experiments conducted on animals. It has proven that the process of ageing is in direct correspondence with the decrease of an-tibacterial barrier function of intestinal wall, bacterial contamination of intestine, as well as the inflammation and hyperextension of the intestinal wall. The results of the clinical investigation have showed a number of significant differences in pathogenesis of Diffuse Peritonitis in patient of different age groups. The effectiveness of some methods in particular has been underlined. Other methods of treatment and diagnostics, based on spectroscopy have been developed together with the prevention measures thatcould allow the reduction of complications associ-ated with the Diffuse Peritonitis. The algorithms of surgical treatment demonstrate the decrease in mortality from Diffuse Peritonitis in patient groups aged between 20 and 59 from 21,4 % to 17,6%; in patients ages 60 and above - from 46,4% to 31,3%.
