Ascetic discourse is the object of the research. Among them we use methods of cultural-historical school, comparative literary studies, phenomenology and structural and semiotic analysis. The dissertation grants with the perspectives of developing an inter-disciplinary trend in humanistic studies: theology of culture. The results of the dissertation can be used in developing academic courses. They form a ground for a totally new humanitarian discipline - "The history of Christian spirituality in Ukraine".
