Essay

In the dissertation the nature and character of ethnopolitical processes on the Ukrainian-Polish border were disclosed taking into account the works of Ukrainian and Polish researchers, on the basis of the source, especially archival materials, many of which were introduced to the scientific circulation for the first time, the reasons of the confrontation, which in the end of the Second World War caused the armed conflict, were elucidated, and the deportating policy of the communist governments of the Soviet Union and Poland, which aimed at the radical "solution" of the national problems by means of the forced "exchange" of the population, was elucidated. The nature of controversial problems in the Ukrainian-Polish relations, which had been inherited by modern governments of Ukraine and the Republic of Poland, in particular with regard to the return of cultural values, was covered and also the scientific and practical suggestions concerning the overcoming of negative stereotypes of the past in the modern Ukrainian-Polish relations were grounded.
