Prokopenko N. Scientific substantiation of the system of evaluating effects of environmental factors and life activity conditions on health status of the elderly people

The dissertation is devoted to complex evaluation of effects of joint action of the environmental longevity factors (ecologic-hygienic, professional-production, social-hygienic and medical-social) on human health formation in aging, based on the study of individual causes of pathology onset. As a result of the epidemiological investigations (cohort, longitudinal, retrospective), a system of human health evaluation under external destabilizing effects has been developed. The followings have been revealed: typical changes of human health status thoughout lifecourse; definite specificities of diseases relative to age and sex; and most vulnarable age periods to influences of exogenic and endogenic factors. The unified approaches to study of psycho-physiological parameters as well as the original methods for human health status and working ability evaluation were developed. More advanced measures for primary disease prevention were proposed. Identified were the effects of prolonged action of unfavourable hygienic and socio-psychological factors on health worsening in the rural population exposed to the Chernobyl disaster.
