Essay

The work highlights a new medical technique for estimation of population protection against infections controlled by immunoprevention, a new technology of carrying out immunological monitoring and improvement of epidemiological surveillance on these grounds. The regularities of the contemporary stage of epidemic process and peculiarities of the population immune structure concerning measles, diphtheria, and pertussis were established; the discrepancy between the parameters of vaccinated population, immune population and protected population was revealed. On the basis on the findings of epidemiological and experimental investigations, a new technique of determining the organism protection was worked out. It consists of assessment of the level of specific antibodies investigated after vaccines administration (revaccination) in the terms corresponding the incubation period. If their amount in the blood serum reaches the protective level, the person is considered protected from the infection. Software for performing epidemiological analysis, imitation models of epidemiological process of measles and diphtheria infections were worked out. The results of the work allowed improving the system of epidemiological surveillance of infections controlled by immunoprevention
