Essay

The thesis is devoted to an integrated ecological-and-hygienic research into epidemic safety and chemical innocuousness of drinking water disinfected with chlorine dioxide (CD). They have revealed insufficient efficacy of the existing system for water-preparation and a higher risk of the secondary contamination of water by viruses in the water – distributing nets. The meaning of CD as disinfectant for drinking water purification maintaining its epidemic safety and without any significant influence on non-infectious morbidity has been established. It also has been revealed that CD in the doses 1,0 - 1,5 mg/dm3 is an effective and safe mean of inactivation for polioviruses and nosocomial infections. They have learnt DC and its derivatives (chlorites and chlorates) influence in concentrations 1,35; 1,35; 1,67 mg/dm3 at a prolong (about 100 days) use by experimental animals of a drinking water. The efficacy of CD at the doses < 2 mg/dm3 for disinfection of secondary – purified sewages. Chlorites’ safe levels as derivatives of DC for long-cycle hydrobiont on the level 1,0 mg/dm3 have been established. They have substantiated the necessity of CD use as a remedy decreasing persistent-multivariate risk of aqueous pathogens for a human being at disinfection of drinking waters and sewages.
