Essay

This thesis, for the first time in Ukrainian Literary Criticism, introduces an approach to the study of genre polycentrism in the Ukrainian narrative of the 1960-1980s. The paper generalizes the results of systemic interpretation of the main tendencies of narrative genre development of the indicated period national prose; specifies peculiarities of its subjects, plot and compositional parameters, narrative dominants, typology of conflicts and sphere of characters analyzed in synchronic and diachronic aspects. Represented polymethodology (interdisciplinary approach) gave an opportunity to study genre polycentrism in the Ukrainian narrative of the 1960-1980s as a discourse of singularities and to define its integral characteristics and cultural context. The study of N.Bichuya, M.Vingranovskyi, E.Gutsalo, A.Dimarov, V.Drozd, R.Ivanychuk, L.Pervomaiskyi, Hr.Tjutjunnyk, B.Kharchuk, I.Chendey, V.Javorivskyi and others' narratives proved that genre polycentrism is provided by presumption of textuality principle, perceived as an intelligent material, inclined to semantic identification and semantic interpretation, creates its own senses-objects and senses-subjects (narrative-parable, narrative-story, narrative-portrait, narrative-discussion, narrative-reflection, etc.).
