In the dissertation systematic analysis of the history of the Magdeburg law in Ukraine basing on the modern methodological approaches of the science of history of the state and law, generalizing study of scientific literature, archival materials was carried out. History of Magdeburg law is considered as one of the most important stages of formation of the municipal law, unique in its variety historico-legal experience of self-government of Ukrainian cities in XVIII - first half of the XIX century.
