This scientific research paper deals with the scientific justification of the system of radiation protection in Ukraine from the technologically enhanced naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM). For this purpose analysis of the radon indoor measurements, NORM in building materials and raw materials measurements as well as in water was carried out. The peculiarity of dose nature was established. Effective doses to the population were assessed and evaluated in the course of work. Comparison ofthe effective doses from TENORM with other radiation sources in the society was also done. Total doses to the population a remote consequence of the Chemobyl related radiation were assessed in this work. These assessments allow for the justification of intervention levels for TENORM and scientifically prove requirements and values of radiation hygiene limits in regulatory documents as well as for optimization procedures for remediation measures.
