Essay

In this dissertation the prose of L. Dobychin is holistically and systematically investigated in the context of premodernist (N. Gogol, F. Dostoevsky, A. Chekhov), modernist (M. Proust, A. Blok, O. Mandelstam, K. Vaginov, B. Pasternak), and postmodernist (A. Bitov, A. Gavrilov, D. Danilov) literature. For the first time a comprehensive analysis of esthetical and axiological parameters of author's consciousness and the ways of expressing it in the writer's prose is carried out, the forms of embodiment of author's ontological intuitions are revealed, an ontological nature of Dobychnin's marginal mentality is shown, specific demonstrations of this nature in both fiction and epistolary texts are considered.
