Essay

The thesis is devoted to an actual problem of preventive medicine, related to early diagnosis and search for effective means of prevention of lead and cadmium intoxications. In this paper the influence of lead and cadmium on the immune system of workers exposed to these metals was established. Methodical approaches to the assessment of the immune status of individuals, who are exposed to heavy metals at work, have been improved. In experimental in vivo and in vitro studies the peculiarities and mechanisms of immunotoxic effects of lead and cadmium have been established. It was observed that high doses of lead acetate and cadmium sulfate cause inhibition of cellular and humoral indices of the immune reactivity, where as low metal doses promoted an activation of the immune response. It was investigated that the use of the preparation "Glutargin" and "Quercetin" in lead and cadmium intoxications in rats promoted the decrease of toxic effect manifestations of these metals. The positive effects of this preparations allowed to recommend them as means of biological prevention.
