This dissertation has theoretical and practical research in the problem of forming professional competence in future teacher of geography in the process of professional preparation. Scientific geographical, psyhological and pedagogical literature is analysed in-process with the purpose of researching the history of becoming and development of geographical education and specification of maintenance of concepts "jurisdiction", "competence", "professional competence". Grounded methodological subsoil of forming professional competence in future teacher of geography, grounded it in conceptual and organizationally methodical positions. Criteria, indexes and levels being formed operating and personality components of professional competence, are determined. The model of forming professional competence of future teacher of geography, the structure of which represents modern aims, maintenance, forms, methods, facilities and terms studies, oriented to ward realization of modern requirements for professional preparation of teacher of geography, are offered and grounded in the work. Leading principles for the forming of professional competence of future teacher of geography in the process of professional preparation, certainly are principle of scientific character, professional orientation, solidity, unity of theory and practice with life, intersubject connections and approaches (sinergistical, personality oriented, system, actival). Analysis of the dynamics of their forming draws a conclusion, that pedagogical terms, which realized through module studies, integrated in the study of fundamental, and special geographical disciplines and creation of an innovative students' educational environment provided the formation of a high level of professional competence in most students in the experimental group are inculcated in practice of professional preparation of future teacher of geography. Efficiency of realization of organizationally pedagogical terms and study and methods complex is experimentally well-proven. Also, it is indicated on the necessity of opening prospects of forming and development of all constituents of professional competence of future teacher of geography.
