The dissertation provides a system analysis of the psychological components of higher technical education, outlines its problems and controversies at the present-day stage of its development, substantiates the necessity for implementation of a psychological follow-up system in the training and educational process bringing the education process results in compliance with the up-to-date requirements of engineering practices. The work offers a holistic concept of the psychological follow-up of the training and educational process at a technical higher educational establishment, which includes: theoretical, methodological and empirical foundations of the scientific problem; a structural and functional model of the psychological follow-up comprising the characteristics of its main components (objectives, tasks, functions, subjects, stages, aspects, technologies and methods of the follow-up); criteria for evaluating the efficiency and ways to optimize the psychological follow-up of the education process at a higher technical school. The author has developed and carried out a successful trial of the psychological follow-up programs for the subjects of the training and educational process at a technical higher educational establishment, and has researched their impact on the personal and professional development of engineering students and the professional growth of the teaching staff.
