Essay

Purpose - study the response formation features in specialized scintillation detectors (SD) for registration of ionizing radiation and the ways to improve their performance. Object - a process of ionizing radiation registration and the formation of detectors responses. Methods - computer simulation, fluorescence spectroscopy, spectrometry and radiometry of ionizing radiation, optical reflectometry. Results - step by step modeling method of ionizing radiation registration was developed; it is suggested a description of a rough surface to simulate light collection in SD. The features of the energy losses and the passage of light in SD were investigated. The influence of conditions of scintillators using and light transport adjusting on the resolution of the SD was definited. For heterogeneous scintillators (HS) the effect of particle size and concentration on the transparency of thin layers of HS was obtained. A new scintillator LiPO2 (Bi) for the detection of neutrons was obtained. Scope of use - SD development for registration of ionizing radiation
