Essay

The dissertation focuses on the historical-philosophical analysis of philosophical psychologism which is considered a complicated historical-philosophical phenomenon that played an ambivalent role in the philosophy of the XIX-th century, having the properties both of a kind of malady of one-sidedness and the prospective basis for new trends in philosophy. The sources of psychologism, having roots in metaphysics and philosophical psychology of the Enlightenment are revealed as well as its different variants in the European philosophy of the XIX-th - the beginning of the XX-th century. In general, psychologism emerges as the attempt to refer to psychology as to the basic philosophical discipline with its further development into metascience, having the function of the general methodology of the social Humanities and thus making philosophy unnecessary.
