Essay

The thesis is devoted to study of winter wheat collection variety samples and identification among them sources and donors with of effective genes of resistance against fungal diseases for use them in breeding work when creating new varieties. Based on the studies carried out the sources of different ecological-geographical origin with effective genes of resistance against smut, powdery mildew, brown rust as well as the source of resistance against Septoria leaf blotch, root rot and Fusarium head blight have been identified. Among them the sources and donors of group resistance have been identified. Entries of station testing and varieties bred at Myronivka were estimated on disease resistance and varieties being resistant against several diseases that are valuable for further breeding work as adapted for Forest Ukraine material have been revealed. For the first time the genetic control of brown rust resistance in 32 donors have been investigated and it was ascertained that donor NS 18-30 possessed Lr9, VR 89 Bo 22 possessed Lr19. Other donors include new, independent from the known effective, resistance genes. By breeding programs we have developed when using donors studied winter wheat lines with group resistance against diseases have been developed that have become valuable source material for creating varieties Myronivs'ka napivintensyvna, Myronivs'ka 33, Ekonomka, Monotype, Myronivs'ka storichna, Myrliena. The effect of agrotechnical measures on degree of winter wheat damage with diseases has been tested. The role of resistant variety in restricting course disease has been established. The efficiency of new seed dressers and fungicides against major diseases has been studied. Positive impact of seed dressers on sowing qualities and biological properties of winter wheat seeds and seedlings has been established. The expediency of reducing norms of fungicides on resistant varieties has been proved, their cost-effectiveness has been estimated.
