The dissertation research is devoted to holistic historical and pedagogical analysis of the process of development and establishment of Ukrainian typhlopedagogy (mid-19th - early 21st centuries). It reveals the impact of socio-political, socio-economic, organisational and educational factors on the development of the domestic typhlopedagogical theory and practice at different historical stages. It describes special features and trends in development of the theory and practice of education and upbringing of visually impaired children at the specified historical periods. The thesis also presents the history of the typhlopedagogical staff training in Ukraine.
