Kravets L. Dynamics of conceptual metaphor in the language of the 20-century Ukrainian poetry

The thesis establishes regularities of the changes of conceptual metaphor in the language of the Ukrainian poetry of the 20th century. The metaphor forming mechanism is described. Immanent features of conceptual and artistic metaphor are characterized. The work proves that conceptual metaphor is the basis for the emergence of artistic metaphor. The linguo cognitive foundation and sociocultural determinants of artistic metaphor dynamics are determined. The role of source and target domains in this process is explicated. The cognitive-lingual map of metaphors is explained, in which the nature of source and target domain interaction in the language of the 20th-century Ukrainian poetry is reflected. The most productive conceptual metaphors are determined and their dynamics within the sources under consideration is analyzed.
