Essay

The work is devoted to the theoretical grounds of interlevel status of categories of case, valence and a supercategory of modality as integral linguistic values associated with several grammatical areas, defining peculiarities of their structure. From a functional morphological and syntactical concept interlevel category of case has been comprehensively investigated; morphological and semantic case gramemes have been distinguished and hierarched; the means of their realization, peculiarities of morphological and syntactical paradigm have been characterized. Differential features and peculiarities of grameme splitting of interlevel category of valence have been determined, it has been emphasized on its connection with the lexical and semantic, syntactical and morphological levels of a language. It has been differentiated between non-derivative verbal valence and valence of conjugated adjectives, numerals and derived (verbal and adjectival) nouns, which is of derivative character. Taking into consideration functional and category theory a system and structure classification of modality as an interlevel communicatively targeted supercategory of the modern Ukrainian literature language have been suggested; it has been pointed out at its inner organization and category multi-vector nature; typological features of morphological modality, syntactical modality, and lexical and grammatical modality have been found out; their grameme specialization has been described.
