Transformation processes of political systems in the Central Asian states (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan) are studied in the thesis. Special characteristics of formating and functioning of political regimes in the countries of Central Asian region are defined on the basis of systematization of large research materials. National and regional peculiarities of political transformations are analyzed. Principles of formation of political elite in the Central Asian states are studied. Development of political system and elements of civil society is examined in accordance with specific character of political transformations in the region. Factors that influence regional stability are defined on the basis of comparative and historical as well as political analysis. Domestic and foreign security threats to the Central Asian states are evaluated. Situation and perspectives of development of relations between Ukraine and the Central Asian states are considered.
