Garat R. Political and military integration in CIS at the end of the XX - beginning of the XXI century.

The thesis provides a comprehensive analysis of military and political integration in the Commonwealth of Independent States. Process of the break-down of the USSR in the context of political processes at global and regional levels as well as problems of legal basis formation on defense and security foundations on the post-soviet space is defined. Major types of threats to the former Soviet states and key directions of military-political integration within the frameworks of OTSC, GUAM and SCO are considered. Results and directions of integration processes in the CIS as well as sub-regional integration institutions and perspectives of cooperation of newly independent states are generalized and analyzed.
