The dissertation is focused on researching the typological and poetological features of the novel form in Russian Literature of the first third of the twentieth century (the works by A. Averchenko, L. Andreev, M. Artsybashev, A. Bely, I. Bunin, A. Belyaev, M. Bulgakov, A. Green, M. Gorky, V. Veresaev, E. Zamyatin, I. Ilf and Y. Petrov, V. Korolenko, V. Obruchev, F. Sologub, D. Merezhkovsky, V. Nabokov, A. Platonov, I. Shmelev). In this paper we define typological variety of the Russian novel in the context of the historical and the literary process. The types of chronotope and narrative strategies in novel form of the given period are analyzed. The dominants, constants and genre modifications of the novel varieties in the Russian prose of the 1900-1930s are identified. The connection between the novel structure and the development of the literary trends, styles and the artistic consciousness of the epoch is figured out. The genre typology of the Russian novel is given taking into account the diffusion of the genres, as well as the classical tradition and innovation of the writers.
