Thesis deals with the investigation of ontological and methodological principles of formation and development of the theory of the information economy in the second half of the XXth century - at the beginning of the XXIst century as a new alternative information paradigm under condition of information-technology revolution and globalization of the world economy. The essential ontological and epistemological foundations of the emergence and the theory functioning of the information economy have been determined by the author, the author's approach has substantiated to its study and the scientific content information and the specific features of the content and structure of economic information has been revealed. The content of the information revolution of the late XXth - and the beginning of the XXIst century has been revealed and its influence on engineering, technology, manufacturing and economic relations; the role and importance of the global information network Internet and information and communication technologies as the material basis and the components of the information economy has been shown.
