Platonova A. Spatial-time and morpho-functional changes of physical development changes among schoolchildren in Ukraine over 50 years

Dissertation is devoted to the hygienic assessment of the disorders in the processes of growth and development of schoolchildren in Ukraine which occurred over the last fifty years. Complex examination of schoolchildren aged 6-17 years, residing in rural and urban regions, revealed the regularities and peculiarities of biological processes of growth and development among contemporary schoolchildren, their changes depending on age, gender, region of residence. Standards for the assessment of physical development of the children aged 6-17 years were elaborated. Morpho-functional peculiarities and spatial-time changes of physical changes in schoolchildren over 50 years lie in an increase of annual accretion of height and body mass of contemporary children. It testifies about acceleration of growth processes. Comparative assessment of the use of the Ukrainian standards and international criteria for the assessment of physical development demonstrated an absence of preventive direction in the WHO criteria and expedience of the use of quantitative and qualitative indices of physical development at the assessment of health in the children's groups.
