Essay

Subject of research - regularities and peculiarities of variability and inheritance of economically important traits of bread winter wheat, mechanisms of their plasticity, homeostasis and adaptability concerning abiotic and biotic factors. The goal - comprehensive study and identification of the most valuable source material and the creation of new breeding material and bread winter wheat varieties with high genetic potential of yield, adaptability and resistance to abiotic and biotic factors for the conditions of Forest-steppe of Ukraine. Methods of research - field, laboratory, measuring-weighing, mathematical and statistical. There have been found changes of the elements of productivity of winter wheat and on their basis the parameter of the perspective varieties adapted to the conditions of the Forest-steppe of Ukraine. There has been proved that the focused selection on the number of seeds per head causes a positive selection shifts. The basic material valuable on its early ripening, winter hardiness and raw gluten content is suggested to use in hybridization as a source of the above mentioned traits. New sources with different rate of group resistance against powdery mildew, brown rust and wheat leaf blotch have been created. Approaches to increase the level of realization of genetic potential of the varieties yielding capacity in the Forest-steppe of Ukraine under global climate changes have been reasoned. 11 new bread winter wheat varieties have been created including 9 varieties submitted for State variety testing in Ukraine and Russian Federation. Variety Lehenda Myronivs'ka is released in Ukraine since 2012, and Mironovskaya 100 is released in Russian Federation since 2011. Field of using - plant breeding.
