The thesis is concerned with development of physics and theory of permeable thermoelements, research on their energy characteristics in cooling, heating and electric energy generation modes; determination of techniques for improving the efficiency of thermoelectric power conversion method by using the optimal distribution of heat sources and sinks in permeable thermoelement legs. Theory has been developed and computer-aided techniques of solving optimization problems for permeable cooling, heating and electric energy generation thermoelements have been created. The use of planar, segmented, stage and other permeable thermoelements has been proposed. Maximum values of their thermodynamic characteristics of power conversion for semiconductor thermoelectric materials based on Ві-Те, Pb-Te, Si-Ge, Fe-Si and TAGS have been established.
