Essay

The research subject are molecular-cell regular patterns and mechanisms of structural adaptation of biological systems during hypothermia and natural hypobiosis. The research aim is to identify regular and particular patterns of structural re-arrangements in biological systems of various levels of organization during hypothermia, natural hypobiosis and low-temperature treatment. Research methods are transmission and scanning electron microscopy, electron-microscopic method of freeze-fracturing, optical microscopy, EPR of spin probes, NMR-spectroscopy, morphometric analysis, flow cytofluorometry and spectrophotometry. The regular patterns and sequence of structural re-arrangements in the systems of various level of organization (membrane - cell - tissue - organ) of homoio- and heterothermic animals during hypothermia, natural hypobiosis and low-temperature treatment have been identified for the first time. The timeframes for high survival of the cell fine structures have been established.
