Essay

The results on experimental basis for the development of methods of control of brain excitation as well as suppression of both acute and chronic epileptiform manifestations, which are realized via antiepileptic brain system involvement, are presented. The rationality of the usage of ketogenic diet with the aim of optimization of brain antiepileptic system working is delivered. First time the role of paleocerebellar cortex in the realization of antiepileptic effects of ketogenic diet as well as strengthening of antiepileptic effects of both electrical stimulation of paleocerebellum, influence of electromagnetic irradiation of low intensity and millimeter bandwidth as well as effects of transcranial magnetic stimulation by ketogenic diet have been shown. The systemic mechanisms of positive effects of activation of brain antiepileptic system under condition of ketogenic diet usage, which are manifested in form of reduction of oxidative stress, increasing of antioxidant defense and improvement of local and general immunological reactivity have been established.
