Essay

The thesis established role of systemic inflammation and disorders of carbohydrate and purine metabolism as significant factors of progression of essential hypertension (EH) and target organ damage. The prognostic role of CRP in the development and progression of left ventricular hypertrophy, carotid intima-media thickening and renal function deterioration was identified in hypertensive patients. It is shown that cardio- and nephroprotective effects of losartan, valsartan and perindopril associated with the decrease in the activity of systemic inflammation, improve insulin sensitivity and regression microalbumiuria.
