The dissertation attempts to perform a comprehensive theoretical and legal analysis of youth legal awareness, which is extremely important in terms of reforming the modern Ukrainian society. In its five sections the thesis reflects the current state of м development of the topic, the basic objectives of the study and its theoretical and methodological foundations; the concept of legal awareness as a theoretical science of Law is explored; the cognitive approaches to the definition and the main features of legal awareness were generalised; the classification of legal awareness was performed; the features that define the youth as a special subject of justice were analysed; also thesis has presented the aspects of legal ideology and legal psychology as a structural elements of youth legal awareness; and clarified the nature and characteristics the functions of legal awareness; the main factors that influence the formation of youth legal awareness were identified and systematized; the study has highlighted the concept, signs, manifestations and determinants of legal nihilism among youth, proposed measures to counteract this negative phenomenon; the features, principles, functions and forms of legal education of youth were characterized; the thesis also has identified the problems of practical implementation of legal education in modern Ukraine and provided reasonable ways to improve legal education of the Ukrainian youth.
