Essay

In the thesis was presented a theoretical and experimental study of the problem of professional competence formation of future biology teachers. The author defined the essence of the leading concepts: "professional competence of biology teachers", "competence" in the broad and narrow sense, determined the structure of the phenomenon and its components, criteria, indicators and levels; developed a classification of types of educational environment and established relationships between the structural components of professional competence and innovative educational environment. The author defined the main trends of biological education in higher institutions in conditions of European integration; determined core competencies of biology teachers; created a conceptual model of professional competence of biology teachers. In the research was developed and implemented in practice of higher education psychodiagnostic tools for determining the levels of teachers' professional competence.
