Essay

The thesis presents the results of studies of laser-stimulated mass transfer and structural changes of the surface layers of crystals in the solid phase under the action of nanosecond pulses. It is shown that anomalous transport of impurity atoms in wide class of semiconductors (InSb, Si, CdTe, CdZnTe, SiC) is caused by the effect of laser thermal shock as a result of strong gradients of temperature and pressure. It was established that the direction of migration of impurities is determined by the ratio of covalent radii of impurity atoms and the base material. A new concept is proposed, and the mechanisms are determined of laser-induced plasmon nano-fragmentation of thin metal layers.
