Essay

The object is political identity as a phenomenon in the context of the current political and socio-cultural transformations. The aim is to define the specific features and strategies of becoming the national collective identity based on democratic consolidation of Ukrainian citizens. The methods are dialectical, socio-cultural and synergistic approaches, systemic, institutional, structural and functional comparative, method of essential-meaningful modeling and discourse. In the dissertation a complex researching politics on the problem of political identity in the modern Ukrainian society has been conducted; the main contradictions of the Ukrainians political identity, the nature and factors of their formation have been exposed; the perspectives and strategy of establishing a collective state identity on the basis of democratic consolidation of Ukrainian citizens have been determined. It has been shown that a potential of political identity functions as a resource of social development is actualized in a society that is in the process of transformation. A dialectical interrelation between democratic transformation of the Ukrainian society and formation of collective state identification of citizens has been grounded. On the basis of the author's methodology of systematic-factorial analyses the existing content-model of political identity in the modern Ukraine has been investigated and the actual "state" collective model based on the democratic values and "state" patriotism, growth of social capital and development of self-organization on the principles of confidence and interaction of different social groups and segments of the society has been proposed. A categorization of a notion of "state identity" has been realized and socio-political mechanisms of its formation have been defined. Application spheres are the state identity politics, conflict of identities in Ukraine, the training courses.
