Musiyezdov O. Urban identity under conditions of postmodern society.

Object: urban identity. Aim: Elaboration of sociological conception of urban identity in post-modern society. Methods: abstraction, generalization, methods of synthesis, analogy, system analysis, secondary data analysis, questioning, biographical and leitmotiv interviews, methods of qualitative and quantitative analysis of documents. Theoretical and practical results: the conceptual apparatus for analyzing a wide range of urban processes is elaborated; the necessity of interpreting urban identity on the basis of the concept of "imagined community" as having the city itself as its identity basis, since the conditions of post-modern society make it impossible the existence of the urban community as a "moral unity" is argued, it is shown that urban identity can not be interpreted in the traditional way as a result of belonging to the community; categorical apparatus of sociological conception of urban identity in a postmodern society is developed. The novelty: Elaboration of the sociological conception of urban identity in post-modern society. Level of implementation: the results of the study are used for preparation for teaching courses "Territorial dimensions of modern society"; certain statements are used in courses "Sociology", "History of Sociology", "Workshop on the socio-cultural expertise of urban policies" that are taught at the Faculties of Philosophy and Sociology of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
