The aim of this study is to provide a basis for the formation of typological architectural environment of prison systems.Work is based on cross-sectoral environmental approach that considers prison systems as a complex system phenomenon, the study of the architectural environment which attracts a number of other disciplines, such as philosophy, sociology, psychology, education, ecology.Scientific novelty of the research lies held for the first time in the development of classifications correctional buildings and complexes on various grounds and typology of functional planning structures and spatial organization of prison complexes.
