Object - the tragedies of the drama cycle Theseus, diaries, epistolary heritage and poetic texts by M. Tsvetayeva; the purpose - to reveal the specificity of the classical literature images embodiment in the plays of the drama cycle Theseus by M. Tsvetayeva; methods that are used - descriptive, comparative and typological, biographical, cultural and historical; novelty - the first attempt to analyse the images of the drama cycle Theseus by M. Tsvetayeva in terms of their close link with the motifs of the tragedies Ariadne and Phaedra is made; the specific features of the classical literature images interpretation are revealed in terms of the author's dual worldview; the origin of this drama cycle is specified, the specific interpretation of the classical mythological text in the two tragedies is considered, the motifs and their links with the images of the classical plays are discovered; the imagery of the classical cycle is analysed, and the specificity of the classical text interpretation is identified; results - can be used for the future studies on Russian literature of the beginning of the XX century, for developing courses in Russian literature history of this period, for preparing special courses and seminars on M. Tsvetayeva's oeuvre as well as for writing diploma and Master degree papers; field - philology.
