Essay

In the thesis, the current constitutional process in Ukraine is seen as part of the overall process of initiating and making systemic changes to the Constitution of Ukraine, which chronologically covers the period from creation of the Constitutional Assembly by the President of Ukraine in May 2012 to the prior approval of the draft law on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine concerning decentralization by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in August 2015. The thesis defines features of the political analysis of the constitutional process, which are to study only those constitutional principles, norms and institutions that govern political relations in society, as well as the activities of the policy subjects on their making and implementation. It discloses objective and subjective prerequisites of the current constitutional process in Ukraine, analyzes the activities of the Constitutional Assembly as part of the constitutional process, clarifies the impact of mass protests in Kiev in winter 2013/2014 (Euromaidan), political conflict and military aggression in eastern Ukraine on the development of the constitutional process in Ukraine and analyzes the activities of the Constitutional Commission as part of a new stage of the current constitutional process in Ukraine.
