Essay

The thesis deals with solving the scientific problem of thermal and capacity potential development in coal deposits based on the fundamental thermodynamic approach that combines the ideas of formation, technogenic transformation of heat transfer fluids, their extraction within the whole technological cycle, and their storing in natural reservoirs. The system of gas-dynamic, fluid flow and heat transfer models has been developed for thermal processes occurring in disturbed rocks as a result of natural and man-made resource development while shutting down mining works. The studied patterns of water and gases of movement in low permeable of coaly rocks, reservoir and flooded mines allowed evaluating the technological parameters of extraction, accumulation, and utilization of these heat transfer fluids for heating and cooling of buildings. The thesis proposed and justified technological options how to utilize the thermal water resource in a flooded mine and activate this resource by underground combustion of residual coal reserves. The developed models applied to real objects in mining areas allowed evaluating the ranges of flow and heat transfer parameters applicable to the conditions of heat transfer fluid extraction and utilization at the final stage of mining. Based on modeling and evaluated flow patterns the thesis justified the parameters of measures aimed at the development of natural and man-made resources of coal deposits.
