In the thesis taking into account social political and legislative changes, comparative analysis of international and national constitutional law and constitutional practice, the system of doctrinal knowledge regarding the constitutional and legal status of the head of state in Ukraine and foreign countries was proposed. There were studied the sources, the specificity and the genesis of normative regulation of constitutional-legal status of the head of state, the methodology of scientific cognition of the statuswas revealed. The grounds, kinds and consequences of legal responsibility of the head of state in Ukraine and foreign countries were analyzed.
